75% of business owners feel overwhelmed . . .
75% of business owners surveyed say they feel overwhelmed at least a portion of every week. Are you part of that group? It doesn’t have to be that way. I have faced this challenge first-hand and moved past it. Now I’d like to help you.
Leaders build roads. Managers fix potholes. Where do you spend most of your time?
MAKE FEWER DAILY DECISIONS . . .
The simple key? MAKE FEWER DAILY DECISIONS! The average person makes about 35,000 decisions during their waking hours every day. And most of these are UNNECESSARY!
Why? Because they are what I call “compelled” decisions. These begin with all the opt-ins, opt-outs, passwords, two-factor authentications and other technology nuisances. Then there are the decisions we feel compelled to make because we’ve always made them. And finally, there’s social media. Don’t get me started on social media!
When was the last time you thought, “I don’t need to be in this meeting,” but you stayed anyway because you didn’t want to upset people?
Overcoming overwhelm is NOT rocket science . . .
Overcoming overwhelm is NOT rocket science. There are lots of leaders around you have mastered the balance of leading without getting sucked into the nuisance decisions and tasks that dog everyone else. I know, I have been studying them for years. I’d like to help you with this challenge as well.
You can search for solutions online. You can ask AI. You can buy my book. You can ask others what they do. But this scatter-shot approach is rarely successful.
When was the last time you watched just one YouTube video? It’s like eating potato chips!
Let me take you through a simple process . . .
Let me take you through a simple process I have perfected with others over time. This process will NOT interfere with all the other tasks on your plate OTHER than to help you eliminate, delegate or automate the time and energy wasters.
Just scrolling through Facebook for five minutes will cause you to make more than 200 micro-decisions.
My approach focuses on four elements . . .
Assessment – Taking stock of every decision you make and task you complete throughout each week, will provide some immediate clarity as to why you feel depleted and overwhelmed. We’ll work together to identify the “low-hanging fruit” that will return time and energy with just a few days.
Organization – “Scattered” is a good description for so many leaders who find themselves constantly pulled in multiple directions. I’ll help you take a candid look at why this is happening and strategize about how you can simplify your commitments.
“I have another commitment” – your secret weapon for getting out of all kinds of requests and interruptions.
It’s lonely at the top . . .
Support – It’s lonely at the top, especially when you’re making changes to the way you work. I know. I’ve been there. We’ll take time during every conversation to work through the challenges you might be facing in reacquiring a more productive balance.
Accountability – Any effective leader will tell you that accountability is a key to being successful in any endeavor. Yet business owners are notorious for being too darn independent. We will make that a part of every conversation as well and with help you to establish one or more accountability partners to help you maintain momentum, especially after you have achieved your initial goals.
How many times a week, do you deal with, “I-don’t-want-to-bother-you questions that should be resolved by the person interrupting you?”
